Basketball is like photography, if you don't focus, all you have is the negative - Dan Frisby In 1891, Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor at YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, experimented with a team game in which players threw a soccer ball to each other and scored by throwing it into a peach basket nailed high on a wall. Later that year he wrote the first version of the rules of what he now called 'Basket Ball'. Through more than a century, nowaday, basketball is played by millions of people, both men and women, in all parts of the world. Professional basketball is watched by millions more on TV.

Hockey players have fire in their heart and ice in their veins. - Unknown Ice hockey made its Olympic debut at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, but was permanently moved to the Winter Olympic programme in 1924, and has featured at every Winter Games since. Two teams, twelve players, wearing skates and compete on an ice rink, great hockey players is team work. There is no success without a strong team. With its speed and its frequent physical contact, ice hockey has become one of the most popular of international sports. The game is an Olympic sport, and worldwide there are more than a million registered players performing regularly in leagues.
